Conky Hardcore!

Fellow sent an email to me this morning tipping me off to his program. I don’t have a need for it, but I’ll bet a lot of you might. Try it out. Post your thoughts…

Here’s the script. It’s python instead of bash.

Here is what he says to do to get it running:

You will need to install conky and preferably conkycolors.
Also, you will need to install transmission-cli and turn on the transmission web client (web tab in the gui options).
Lastly, you will need to put a line in your ~/.conkyrc like:
${execpi 3 /path/to/conkytransmission.py}

To get the execbar to stretch across the entire width of conky, the .conkyrc setting
default_bar_size 0 3
will work (the 3 can be changed with your desired bar height)

That’s about it.

The original CH! was started by some pals at linux-hardcore. It was championed by one fellow in particular who had to tend to something more important in his life. We wish him well.

Today Conky Hardcore! starts anew with a new domain, permanent hosting, and some spring cleaning. There is plenty of good content here and some active and committed members and that’s great. The site needs a little reorganizing and that’s what will be happening over the next few days.

It’s all good. Conky is a fabulous program and this site is a terrific resource. If you’re a member, keep on keepin’ on, if you’re new to conky and or this site, welcome. Upload your screenshots and .conkyrc files and show off your juicy conky goodness. Play with scripts to enhance your conky functionality and share your knowledge. Share your ideas and let’s make this the Conky resource the entire web refers to.

13 Sept 09 – OK, this is late in coming, but Crinos512 has been with us for what 2 weeks now and I’ve been a little busy so haven’t posted his joining us as an Editor. He started by revamping his personal conky info that was put up long before joining us because it is totally unique. He is also our resident KDE expert and has posted some nice stuff concerning KDE – Compiz and Conky.

I also have been lax to post that we now have a French section thanks to: aripnux who I also forgot to introduce as well. Sorry guys but welcome to the team! You may notice that the “translations” are slower than the English section, these people are volunteers and as such I’m not pushing them. If you’d like to help translating from English to Spanish, Italian or French let me know either with a comment here or a PM in one of the conky forums I’m in, look for my avatar, I use it everywhere I go.

Also, Italian translation has come to a halt for the moment as DjNeophyte has a very pressing family matter he is looking after, so please be patient.

27 July 09 – I would personally like to welcome jjgomera and DjNeophyte to the team.

24 July 09 – Conky Hardcore! is going multilingual, starting today, we have a dedicated Spanish section thanks to jjgomera, and an Italian section thanks to DjNeophyte.
